Our group of nine game bird prints are exceptional reproductions of originals by John Gould, a renowned ornithological illustrator of the 19th century. A testament to his legacy of beauty and scientific knowledge, each of the studies meticulously recreates each bird in their native habitat, shown with their young and plant food source. Taken from several of Gould's publications, these prints are reproduced from lithographs hand-colored by his associate, Joseph Wolf. Among the nine are Phasianus Scintillans (Sparkling Pheasant) from The Birds of Asia and Lagopus Mutus (Rock Ptarmigan) from An Introduction to the Birds of Great Britain. Antiqued beveled mahogany frames with a distressed finish and gilded inner border surround each print with a creamy white background behind glass. Set of 9.
