Far East Fireplace Caddy
As drinking tea became increasingly en vogue during the late 18th century, caddies to house select teas also grew in popularity. Our oversized solid wood version is recreated here as a clever caddy for your fireplace, however, we think this caddy has a multitude of uses! On the front, a traditional chinoiserie raised relief vignette of a man and women centers the piece. With a traditional black crackle ground, the scrolling incised borders and shaped base are highlighted with gilt accents. Inside our 12" x 24" caddy is a removable, six compartment divider, useful for kindling, papers, or small logs. Handles flank the sides for ease of transport and it is finished with a hinged lid.
